Time is everything, especially when it’s spent waiting for a website to load. You’re seconds away from your goal but have to wait because the advertising content and trackers take those seconds to load.

Two Thirds of Users Have a Worse Experience Due to Ads

In our recent survey about online tracking, we’ve found that a third of respondents notice the slower browsing experience due to advertising. This gave us the idea to run a quick test to see whether the time consumed for loading ads really makes a difference.

We’ve tested the world’s top media websites by loading them with and without advertising content. The results were not shocking: A large portion of loading time has nothing to do with the content you came to see. We’ve put all of the results into the graph below.

Even though the difference is seconds, it’s still a fact that you would wait noticeably shorter for a website to load if it didn’t contain all those ads.
