As all extraordinary events that keep the world’s attention captive for months, COVID-19 has been used as bait in various malicious activities online.

New Malicious Activity in 2020

We took two weeks of data from March about attempts to access harmful COVID-19 related websites by users in our protected networks. And we’ve also noticed a worrisome amount of unique new COVID-19 related domains accessed in our protected networks.

This gives us an opportunity to consider the impact of worldwide news and actualities on the general landscape of threats and cybersecurity.

It also indicates that the main challenge in situations where new increased malicious activities arise is to categorize the involved unsafe websites accurately. Content control solutions could solve this issue.
