Quality Engineer, Advanced Content Control Engineering
Description
๐ CUJO AIยฎ is a leader in artificial intelligence solutions for network service providers. We use machine learning and real-world data to develop cybersecurity, device intelligence, network intelligence, and parental control solutions that make internet connections safer for millions of homes.
About the Role
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Advanced Content Control Engineering (ACCE) team in Lithuania.
ACCE builds and operates Compass โ CUJO AIโs Advanced Content Control platform, responsible for delivering Digital Life services to operators worldwide. It is an event-driven system running 24/7 in production: Kafka, REST and partner APIs, OpenSearch, Redis, S3 and the AWS services underneath them.
We believe the best quality engineers are defined less by the number of tests they write and more by their judgment about what matters to test. We are looking for someone who can think like an engineer, reason about risk before it becomes a defect, and influence how the whole team approaches quality โ not just their own slice of it.
In This Role, You Will:
- Own quality for a live service โ Compass runs 24/7 in production for operators around the world. You take responsibility for release readiness and regression scope, not just test execution, and you communicate risk clearly enough that a go/no-go decision can actually be made on it.
- Shape the test strategy โ decide what belongs at unit, component, integration, contract and end-to-end level, and where the real risk sits in an event-driven system. Keep QA activities transparent, measurable and sustainable.
- Build automation that lasts โ write Python-based test automation that is clean, maintainable and actually used by the team. Extend our shared test framework and keep the Compass suites running green in CI.
- Test the plumbing, not just the endpoints โ Kafka topics and consumer behaviour, REST and partner APIs, OpenSearch indices, Redis caches, S3-delivered rule releases, and the AWS services underneath them.
- Guard performance and scale โ plan and run Compass performance and regression cycles, interpret the results, and turn them into concrete capacity and design feedback rather than a green tick.
- Stay close to the customer โ operator integrations differ, and so do their failure modes. Reproduce and validate customer-reported issues with Product Operations and support, and translate real deployments into test coverage.
- Work across team boundaries โ with ACC Lab on detection rules, categories and efficacy data; with firmware, OTM and data teams on the flows that cross into Compass; with product on what a feature must do before it can ship.
- Track and communicate risk โ keep stakeholders informed on quality status, open defects and mitigation plans. Be the person who connects what is happening in testing to what it means for the release.
- Mentor and share โ guide colleagues, document what you know, and contribute to a company-wide culture of quality.
Requirements
What Weโre Looking For:
You should be able to reason about and work effectively with:
- Python โ writing clean, production-quality test automation code.
- Test frameworks such as pytest, and the CI/CD pipelines that run them (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- REST API testing and contract validation โ OpenAPI/Swagger, Restfox or similar tooling.
- Event-driven systems โ Kafka concepts such as topics, partitions, ordering, consumer lag and replay, and what they mean for test design.
- AWS services in day-to-day use: ECS, Lambda, S3, Kinesis, OpenSearch, ElastiCache/Redis, CloudWatch.
- Observability and troubleshooting โ Grafana, Kibana/OpenSearch queries, log and metric analysis to tell a real defect from noise.
- Networking fundamentals โ TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS/SNI โ enough to reason about how traffic gets classified.
- Backend and cloud fundamentals โ our services are Java/Spring Boot on AWS. You do not need to write them, but you do need to read them and know where to look.
- Test case design, defect management, and E2E and UAT testing.
- Agile development environments and iterative testing practices.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- 2+ years in software QA/QE, with meaningful time on backend or cloud products.
- Hands-on experience testing distributed, event-driven or streaming systems.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS delivered to enterprise or telco customers, where each deployment has its own quirks.
- Exposure to parental controls, content filtering, DPI or traffic classification.
- Familiarity with traffic capture and analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, Linux).
- A track record of improving QA processes, not just following them.
- Experience building team-wide testing practices.
